Since mid-late July, economic operation data of the first half of the year have been published by many provinces (cities and districts) in China. From the data point of view, the output of raw coal continues to increase in the western region, and the value-added of coal industry has increased significantly. At the same time, with the development of modern coal chemical industry and coal deep processing industry, the added value of coal industry in the Western coal-producing areas has increased significantly; the central and eastern regions have accelerated the clearance of coal production capacity, greatly reduced the output value of coal industry, and expanded the scale of coal import; while the coastal provinces have been greatly affected by the installation of clean energy. Increase in factors such as the impact of coal consumption continued to decline.
Western China: The added value of coal industry increased
On July 15, the National Bureau of Statistics released data showing that the output of raw coal in China was 333.35 million tons, an increase of 10.4% over the same period of last year. From January to June, the country's cumulative output of raw coal was 1758.2 million tons, an increase of 2.6% over the same period last year. Among them, Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia have a total output of 1.23 billion tons of raw coal, accounting for 70.14% of the national output of raw coal. The output of raw coal in Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia accounts for 70% of the country's total, further consolidating the position of the western region as the core area of coal supply and demand in the country. In addition, the recent economic operation data of the first half of the year in various provinces reveal more content.
On July 22, Shanxi Statistical Bureau released the economic operation data of the whole province. In the first half of the year, the total GDP of the whole province reached 835.765 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2% over the previous year. Among them, the value-added of coal industry increased by 6.0% year-on-year, non-coal industry increased by 8.0%, and the contribution rate to industrial growth reached 55.6%. Non-coal industry has become the driving force of industrial growth. Shanxi, a major coal province, has torn off the label of "coal", which contains two meanings: one is that the coal industry has given way to the "non-coal" industry, which is no longer the biggest driving force for the economic growth of the province; the other is that the coal industry is developing towards a clean and low-carbon direction. In recent years, Shanxi has developed modern coal chemical industry Determination boxing. In 2018, it set the goal of "focusing on 100 coal chemical engineering projects", and this year it issued the plan of "clean conversion and utilization of coal exceeding 20 million tons", in order to build a large-scale, multi-production, integrated modern coal chemical industry pattern. Promoting the clean and efficient utilization of coal resources has become an important fulcrum for Shanxi to build a "national energy revolution leader". Inner Mongolia has also made great efforts to increase the value of coal conversion. In the first half of the year, the added value of industries above the scale of the whole region increased by 7.1% year on year. Among them, the value-added growth rate of modern coal chemical industry is 2.9 percentage points faster than that of industries above scale.
Shaanxi Province is affected by safety and environmental protection inspection. Coal mining and washing enterprises in Shaanxi Province stop production and reduce production in a large area, affecting the output of raw coal. According to the data released by the Shaanxi Provincial Government, in the first half of the year, the output of raw coal decreased by 8.2%, and the added value of coal mining and washing industry also decreased by 5.6%. However, the high-quality coal production capacity in Shaanxi Province has accelerated its release. Since 2018, 10 new coal mine projects have been completed and put into operation in Shaanxi Province, releasing 51.4 million tons of advanced coal production capacity per year, and 22 approved coal mines are under construction. At the same time, relying on Yushen, Yuheng and Jingbian three parks, we will vigorously develop high-end coal chemical industry and increase the conversion rate of coal resources and the added value of coal resources. By the end of 2018, the three parks had completed a total investment of more than 19 billion yuan, and promoted a number of major energy and chemical projects to settle in Shaanxi.
Middle and Eastern Region: The decrease of coal output value and the increase of electric coal import
Middle and Eastern Region has been deepening along with the structural reform of supply side, and the coal production capacity has been speeding up clearance. On July 17, the Hunan Statistical Bureau, in its briefing on the economic situation in the first half of the year, mentioned that the backward production capacity of coal and papermaking in the whole province continued to be cleared, and the output of raw coal in the whole province fell by 18.4% year on year. The energy consumption structure has been continuously optimized, and the proportion of raw coal consumption in total energy consumption in the province has dropped by 4.5 percentage points over the same period last year. The economic operation data of Anhui Province in the first half of the year showed that in January-June, the added value of industries above the scale of the whole province increased by 8.3%, and the growth rate was 2.3 percentage points faster than that of the whole country. Among them, the value-added of mining industry increased by 0.7%, manufacturing industry by 8.6%, electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industry by 12.8%. In the mining industry, coal output continued to recover. According to the data, by the end of 2018, the production of coal mines in the whole province had dropped to 42, with a coal production capacity of 134 million tons per year, a decrease of 10.5 million tons per year over the same period of last year; in 2019, Anhui Province planned to continue to withdraw its coal production capacity of 1.65 million tons. This year, the province's coal enterprises plan to produce 114 million tons of raw coal, of which 98 million tons (including washing loss) are sold and 16 million tons are sold outside the province. In addition, 71 million tons of coal need to be transferred from outside the province, and 54 million tons of net coal need to be transferred in the whole province, accounting for 32% of the total coal consumption in the province. The economic operation data of Hubei Province in the first half of the year show that from January to June, the investment in fixed assets in the whole province increased by 10.8% and 0.3 percentage points over the same period of last year. According to the data of Hubei electric power operation in the first half of this year, the electricity consumption of manufacturing industry in Hubei Province increased by 6.61%. Among them, the electricity consumption of the emerging computer communication industry increased by 41.19% at 2.042 billion kWh. For the first time, the electricity consumption surpassed that of automobile manufacturing, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing, petroleum, coal and other fuel processing industries.
Because of poor mining conditions and small scale of mines, the coal production capacity of Hubei Province decreases year by year. From January to June, Hubei Province produced 141,000 tons of raw coal, the largest decline in the country. The economy is still growing at a high speed. Local coal can not meet the demand. Hubei Province has increased the amount of imported coal. In 2018, 46.553 million tons of electric coal were transferred into Hubei power plant, an increase of 88.05 million tons over the same period of last year; 45.916 million tons of electric coal were consumed, an increase of 8.713 million tons over the same period of last year.
