EU evaluates the safety of 3 compounds as feed additives

ECHEMI 2020-04-20

On April 16, 2020, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) released news that the EU Animal Feed Additives and Products (FEEDAP) research team evaluated lignosulphonate of magnesium, shellac and silica The carrier 60% phosphoric acid (phosphoric acid 60% on silica carrier) as a technical additive for all animal species is safe and effective.

It is understood that the functions of the above three substances as technical additives are magnesium lignosulfonate (binder), shellac (stabilizer), and silica carrier 60% phosphoric acid (preservative). Due to lack of information, the FEEDAP team was unable to comment on the safety and efficacy of the three substances as technical additives for all animal species.
