Indena aescin active ingredient successfully registered REACH
On May 26, Italian natural plant active ingredient supplier Indena stated that it had completed the activity of aescin as the lead registrant in accordance with the Act on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) (EC) No 1907/2006 REACH registration of the ingredient ESCIN (INCI: ESCIN; EC # 229-880-6, CAS # 6805-41-0, registration number 01-2120757334-53-0000).
As of now, Indena is the only company that completed all registrations after the pre-registration in 2018. The company has generated relevant data including complex chemical characterization, developed a comprehensive technical file and successfully managed the registration file submitted to ECHA.
Elena Uberti, a staff member of the Indena REACH project, said: "Escin and horse chestnut derivatives are of strategic importance in the field of plant active ingredients and have been added to many pharmaceutical and personal care best-selling products.
Horse chestnut derivatives have high quality standards and analytical complexity, and are not commodities. By registering REACH, Indena further consolidated its leading position in this market segment, enabling the professional purchase, production and product launch of horse chestnut derivatives.
