Jintong Petrochemical fire: or affect the supply of detergent raw materials

A fire at Nanjing Jintong Petrochemical will further upgrade the environmental protection supervision of hazardous chemical production enterprises in Jiangsu Province, and may cause shortages of cleaning chemicals and price fluctuations.

At 7:06 on July 18, a fire broke out in Jintong Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Jintong Petrochemical") at No. 201 Yaoxin Avenue, Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone, Qixia District, Nanjing. The leakage of pipeline materials near the tower caused high-temperature materials to catch fire after contacting the hot oil reboiler. After the incident, the command center of the Nanjing Fire Rescue Detachment mobilized fire officers and soldiers to the scene for disposal. At 8:03, the open flame at the scene was extinguished. The fire caused no casualties. The direct property damage is under further investigation.

The reporter learned that Jintong Petrochemical is a joint venture jointly established by Sinopec Jinling Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Baozhi Investment Co., Ltd. It was formally established on September 1, 1993, completed trial production in December 1995, and officially put into production in January 1996, with a registered capital of 168.2 million yuan.

The main production equipment of Jintong Petrochemical is an alkylbenzene plant with a design capacity of 72,000 tons/year and an alkylbenzene sulfonic acid plant with 20,000 tons/year. The company's main products include linear alkyl benzene and alkyl benzene sulfonic acid, and by-products include heavy alkyl benzene, tar, and light oil. In addition, Jintong Petrochemical's alkylbenzene production capacity is second only to Sinopec 1 Fushun Petrochemical in the country, and it is a veritable petrochemical giant.

A raw material supplier in Guangzhou told reporters: “Among Jintong Petrochemical’s main products, alkylbenzene is the most important raw material for domestic civilian detergent products, and alkylbenzene sulfonic acid is an important anionic surfactant, often used as a This kind of detergent is used to produce linear alkyl benzene sulfonate sodium salt, ammonium salt and ethanolamine salt, both of which are widely used in household washing products such as laundry detergent and powder."
