According to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), on 22 December 2022, the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food reported to WOAH an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in Denmark.

According to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), on 22 December 2022, the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food reported to WOAH an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in Denmark.
The outbreak, on Loraine Island, was confirmed on 22 December 2022. The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain. Laboratory testing found 36,000 birds suspected to have been infected, of which six died and 35,994 were killed and disposed of.

As the outbreak continues, the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food will submit weekly follow-up reports.
