Toray plans to invest 100 billion yen to increase carbon fiber production
Recently, Toray Industries of Japan announced that the company plans to invest about 100 billion yen by 2025 to expand the production capacity of carbon fiber composite production bases in the United States, South Korea and France.
It is reported that Toray's carbon fiber business is mainly oriented to aviation manufacturing, sports and leisure and general industries. Previously, under the influence of the COVID-19, the demand for carbon fiber from the aviation manufacturing field disappeared for a while, and Toray used the idle production equipment during that period to produce carbon fiber for general industry. With the slow recovery of the world economy from the epidemic, the demand for aviation carbon fiber has also stabilized and rebounded, leading to the return of the above production equipment to aviation carbon fiber production, which leads to the capacity gap of carbon fiber for general industry.
Dongli said that this expansion is mainly aimed at general industrial fields including new energy, and the specific scale has not been announced.
