Chemours joins hands with Zhejiang Juhua to expand production capacity of HFO foaming agent
Chemours, a global chemical company with leading market positions in titanium technology, thermal energy and specialty solutions, and advanced performance materials, today announced capacity investments for its low global warming potential (GWP) Opteon™ 1100 foam foams and Opteon™ SF33 specialty fluids. The expansion will triple the capacity of ultra-low GWP hydrofluorolefin (HFO) solutions, meeting the growing demand from customers and value chain partners for sustainable and efficient fluids based on HFO-1336MZZZ.
Chemours has entered into an agreement with Zhejiang Juhua Group Co., Ltd. to produce additional HFO-1336mzzZ. The program is expected to start up by the end of 2025, followed by full production in early 2026.
"Our customers use the Opteon™ 1100 and Opteon™ SF33 to deliver superior performance in a variety of critical applications," said Joseph Martinko, President, Thermal & Specialty Solutions, Comou. Chemours is pleased to be able to meet our customers' growing business needs with low GWP products that support the health and sustainability of our planet. "As consumers and regulators around the world seek to progressively reduce CO2 emissions, access to this technology will help achieve sustainability and performance goals in buildings, electronics, appliances, critical cleaning, carrier liquids, and many other application areas."
Chemours offers a product portfolio based on HFO-1336mzzZ, which is more environmentally friendly than non-HFO alternatives. These products have the added advantages of thermal and shelf-life stability, non-flammability, low boiling point, and formulation flexibility. In addition, the chemical formulation provides foam producers with additional insulation value, more precise application control and a wider range of applications.
Zhejiang JuHua Group Co., Ltd. is engaged in the production and sales of fluorine chemical materials, fine fluorine chemical products, basic chemicals, fertilizers and pesticides, and other chemical related products.
