China's Fixed-Asset Investment Up 3.8% YoY in H1 2023, Led by Chemical Industry
Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on July 17th showed that in the first half of the year, China's fixed-asset investment was CNY 24.3113 trillion, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.8% and a month-on-month increase of 0.39%. Among them, investment in the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry increased by 13.9%.
Broken down by industry, investment in the primary industry was CNY 515.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.1%; investment in the secondary industry was CNY 7.4839 trillion, an increase of 8.9%; and investment in the tertiary industry was CNY 16.3123 trillion, an increase of 1.6%.
In the secondary industry, industrial investment increased by 8.9% year-on-year. Among them, investment in the mining industry increased by 0.8%, investment in manufacturing increased by 6.0%, and investment in the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water increased by 27.0%.
In the tertiary industry, infrastructure investment (excluding the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water) increased by 7.2% year-on-year. Among them, investment in railway transportation increased by 20.5%, investment in water conservancy management increased by 9.6%, investment in road transportation increased by 3.1%, and investment in public facility management increased by 2.1%.
Broken down by region, investment in the eastern region increased by 6.4% year-on-year, investment in the central region decreased by 1.7%, investment in the western region increased by 0.8%, and investment in the northeast region increased by 2.2%.
Broken down by registration type, investment in domestic enterprises' fixed assets increased by 4.0% year-on-year, investment in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan-funded enterprises' fixed assets decreased by 3.4%, and investment in foreign-funded enterprises' fixed assets increased by 3.4%.
