Donghua Science and Technology Signs EPC Contract for 80,000 Tons/Year Sulfate Process Titanium Dioxide Project in South Africa
Donghua Science and Technology (referred to as the company) recently announced that it has officially signed the "South Africa 80,000 Tons/Year Sulfate Process Titanium Dioxide Project EPC Contract" with Nyaza company from South Africa.
The contract involves the construction of an 80,000 tons/year sulfate process titanium dioxide production plant under a comprehensive contracting model. It includes a supporting 300,000 tons/year sulfuric acid plant, as well as corresponding public works, waste heat recovery units, and more. The project will be located in the Richard's Bay Industrial Development Zone in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa.
The contract is denominated in US dollars, with a total contract value of approximately $491 million (equivalent to approximately CNY 3.525 billion). As the general contractor, the company will be responsible for the detailed engineering design, equipment and material procurement, construction and installation, commissioning, performance assessment, and the entire project quality guarantee period for the sulfuric acid, titanium dioxide, and public works facilities under the contract. The construction period is 36 months, with a grace period of 6 months, and a performance assessment period of 12 months.
The project owner of this contract is Nyaza company. Nyaza company was established in March 2011. Since 2011, in order to develop this project, Nyaza company has invested over $30 million in preparing the project feasibility study report and constructing its product testing and research center.
The project's investors include Arkein Industrial Holdings (the lead initiator and founding shareholder), DBF Capital Partners (DBF investment partnership fund), Africa Finance Corporation, and African Export-Import Bank.
South Africa has well-developed infrastructure, a high degree of economic openness, and ranks among the top in terms of comprehensive strength and economic size in Africa. Donghua Science and Technology's announcement stated that Nyaza company and its two shareholders have strong financial resources and good financial conditions. Nyaza company will also make a prepayment of 15% of the total contract price to the company.
