Vietnam Successfully Researched Nano-Heat-Insulating Reflective Coatings
The Tropical Technology Research Institute of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology announced that researchers have successfully studied nano-heat-insulating reflective coating products for the cooling effect of outdoor construction projects and petroleum storage tanks.
Associate Professor Le Trong Lu, a representative of the research team, said that the average annual total radiation in Vietnam is relatively high (the average annual solar radiation is about 120 kcal/cm2), which has caused the heat island effect in major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, resulting in a large amount of energy consumption and power shortages.
The oil industry often suffers huge losses due to evaporation. The research team focused on research and successfully developed nano-heat-insulating reflective coating products for the cooling effect of petroleum storage tanks.
In particular, Suzuka Fine, one of the top five coating companies in Japan, conducted quality testing and evaluation of the nano-insulating reflective coating products of the Tropical Technology Research Institute in accordance with the Japanese JIS.K 5675 "High Solar Reflectance Coating for Roofs". Analysis results show that the heat reflectivity of the Tropical Technology Institute's paint samples is much higher than existing heat-resistant paint products on the domestic and foreign markets.
Chen Dalin, director of the Institute of Tropical Technology, said that nano-heat-insulating reflective coating products are suitable for construction projects, the outer surfaces of petroleum storage tanks and liquid chemical storage tanks. They are an effective and low-cost solution to deal with the heat island effect and contribute to energy security.
