The Latest Progress of INVISTA’s Nylon 66 Project in Shanghai
Recently, Invest Shanghai reported: At present, the third phase expansion project of INVISTA Polymers is progressing smoothly, with the construction progress reaching more than 90%. It is in the final stage and is planned to be put into trial production in the second quarter of 2024.
The third phase of the INVISTA polymer expansion project is located in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone. The total investment of the project is 1.75 billion yuan. A new set of nylon 66 polymer production equipment and its public works and auxiliary facilities will be built. After completion, INVISTA will achieve a total nylon 66 production capacity of 400,000 tons.
The construction of the third phase of INVISTA Polymer's expansion project started in August 2022, and for the first time, modular construction was used for construction, which greatly reduced the number of people working on-site at the production base. The project will use INVISTA's advanced technology to improve the industrial efficiency of the base, further meet the demand for high-quality nylon materials in the automotive, electronics, electrical, and high-end clothing fields, and promote the development of the advanced materials industry.
Since 2014, INVISTA has continued to invest more than US$2 billion in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone to deploy the INVISTA nylon 66 value chain, including: hexamethylenediamine production base and nylon 66 polymer production base, INVISTA Asia Pacific R&D Center (put into operation in September 2022), INVISTA Nylon Chemical adiponitrile production base (put into operation in November 2022), nylon 66 polymer production capacity improvement plan (project reported this time).
