Bayer Crop Science Leadership Team Restructured

ECHEMI 2024-01-12

Bayer is making several major changes to the leadership team in its Crop Science unit. The new staffing will support the company in shaping agriculture for farmers, consumers and the planet, with the goal of evolving into a leader in regenerative agriculture.

Malu Nachreiner, currently Bayer's senior representative and head of the Brazilian Crop Science country unit, will succeed Brian Naber as commercial head of Asia Pacific.

Brian Naber will take over as commercial head of North America from Jackie Applegate, who is retiring from Bayer after 31 years. Both changes will take effect on March 1, 2024.

Oliver Rittgen, currently CFO of Bayer's Consumer Health division, will succeed Kelly Gast as the Crop Science's new CFO. The latter is retiring after nearly 30 years with the company, and the changes are effective from February 1.

Further changes will take effect in early 2024:

Sascha lsrael has been appointed head of product supply, succeeding Dirk Backhaus, who is retiring after 27 years at Bayer.

Amanda McClerren, formerly head of digital transformation and information technology for crop science R&D, will succeed Sascha as chief information officer, head of digital transformation and information technology.

Jessica Christiansen, who currently leads the division's sustainability and business management teams, will become head of crop science communications, succeeding Tom Armitage, who has decided to pursue further career opportunities outside Bayer.

"With the new formation of our Crop Science executive leadership team, we are well-positioned to further advance our vision for regenerative agriculture and provide farmers with much-needed innovative solutions," said Rodrigo Santos, member of the Bayer Board of Directors and President of Bayer.
