Nanjing Food and Drug Testing Institute Achieves International Recognition in Quality Assurance
In recent years, the Nanjing Food and Drug Testing Institute has been committed to striving for "first in the province and top-notch in the nation," using various means, including participating in international proficiency testing, to continuously improve its quality management system. In 2023, the institute participated in seven international proficiency tests organized by authoritative institutions such as FAPAS, LGC, and USP. These tests covered a range of areas, including the determination of dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs in fish liver oil, the determination of potassium in infant formula milk powder, the determination of aflatoxin M1 in milk powder, the determination of nutritional components (nitrogen) in infant formula powder, the qualitative determination of Salmonella and Enterobacter sakazakii in infant formula powder, the determination of pH value in liquid cosmetics, and the determination of ibuprofen content. The results of all these proficiency tests were satisfactory, marking the achievement of internationally recognized inspection and testing capabilities by the Nanjing Food and Drug Testing Institute in the fields of food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.
Among them, the Nanjing Food and Drug Testing Institute participated for the first time in the proficiency test for "dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs in fish liver oil" organized by FAPAS in the United Kingdom. The total toxicity of dioxins and the total toxicity of dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) both received a "satisfactory" rating. The institute has established the first environmental pollutant dioxin testing laboratory in the market supervision system of Jiangsu Province and obtained CMA accreditation. The proficiency test utilized high-resolution magnetic mass spectrometry for the analysis of ultra-trace levels of persistent organic pollutants, specifically dioxins. The satisfactory results of this proficiency test fully demonstrate the level of the institute's testing capacity construction.
Moving forward, the Nanjing Food and Drug Testing Institute will continue to enhance its own testing capabilities, strengthen the construction and operation of its quality system, and provide robust technical support for regulatory purposes and public health.
