Corteva launches a new Halauxifen-methyl herbicide—Extinguish™ XL in Canada

Corteva recently announced that it will offer a new broad-leaved weed control solution ----Extinguish™ XL herbicide (Halauxifen-methyl 6 g/L + 2,4-D 300 g/L EC) to wheat and barley growers in Western Canada ahead of the 2024 planting season.

Extinguish™ XL is a premixed agent with the main active ingredients Halauxifen-methyl and 2,4-D. The product has a variety of mechanisms of action, and can effectively control a variety of stubborn broad-leaved weeds such as cleavers, dandelion, dwarf mallow, geranium wilfordii and Crepis tectorum under different climatic conditions.

Extinguish™ XL has a wide application window from the 2-leaf stage through the flag leaf stage, and has demonstrated stable herbicide activity despite wide variations in temperature and humidity conditions, making it a flexible and reliable option for Canadian wheat and barley growers to control broad-leaved weeds.

In addition, the herbicide is combined with two active ingredients to address the growing resistance problem, such as weed resistant cleavers, chickweed and volunteer canola.

The launch of this product further enriches Corteva's grain herbicide product line in Canada and is expected to provide local farmers with a more complete integrated control solution.
