Corteva launches its new maize herbicide Hector ® (Nicosulfuron + Rimsulfuron + Decamba) in Spain
Corteva recently launched Hector®, a new corn herbicide designed to provide post-emergence control of broad-leaved and narrow-leaved weeds in Spain.
Hector® addresses weed problems with its dual mechanisms of action: ALS inhibitors (HRAC Group 2, Nicosulfuron + Rimsulfuron) and synthetic auxin (HRAC Group 4, Decamba), whose wide range of control and high selectivity make Hector® an ideal solution for corn growers.
To enhance the selectivity of the product, Hector® added a special safety agent, isoxadifen-ethyl. The safety agent enhances the tolerance of crops to herbicides by enhancing the activity of GST and P450 enzymes in crops. In addition, the addition of this safety agent also allows Hector® to be mixed with Vivolt® (non-ionic wetting agent) without affecting the production potential of the corn crop.
Maize is an important crop in Spain. The main corn-producing autonomous regions are Castile and Leon (27.42% of total production), Aragon (20%) and Galicia (19.82%). It was followed by Catalonia (11.52%) and Extremadura (4.61%).
In the future, Corteva plans to launch additional products such as Dragster®, Emir® and Lortama® Rinskor™ (Florpyrauxifen-benzyl), which together with Hector® and Arigo® form a comprehensive corn herbicide portfolio. This range of products will help farmers protect their crops more effectively and improve crop yield and quality, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and profitability in the marketplace.
