Corteva released its sustainability report(2023)

2024-04-30

Recently, Corteva released its 2023 Sustainability Report, detailing measurable progress in its four focus areas of sustainability:

Sustainable innovation

Corteva has achieved that 100% of newly developed products in its pipeline meet Corteva’s sustainability standards, which are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

New crop protection products with sustainable benefits will account for 25% of net sales (excluding formulations) in the plant protection business in 2023.

Biodiversity

Since 2021, 4.2 million acres of land have been supported to improve biodiversity and practice renewable agriculture-related outcomes.

Climate improvement

Category 1 and 2 standard CO2 emissions per dollar of net sales in 2023 are 21% lower than in 2020.

The absolute emissions equivalent of Category 1 and 2 standard CO2 in 2023 are 6% lower than in 2020.

Diversity and inclusion

Corteva believes in the power of collaboration, facilitating the integration of diverse suppliers and small businesses into their supply networks to solve challenges in agriculture. In 2023, Corteva’s total spending with various suppliers and small businesses exceeded $2 billion.

Received the Best Inclusive Business of 2023 award from the National Business Inclusion Consortium in the United States, as well as a BEE rating from the Honeycomb agency in South Africa, among other awards.

Chuck Magro, CEO of Corteva Agri-Tech, said: "Sustainability is at the heart of our business, and helping farmers meet the intertwined challenges of population growth, climate change, pest pressure and increasingly stringent regulatory standards has never been more urgent and important. That's one of the reasons we invest nearly $4 million a day in research and development. We are shaping a science-based, sustainable agricultural future. We are proud of the progress we have made, but we also recognize that there is more work to be done."

In the future, Corteva will continue to strengthen its efforts in these four key areas to further create positive and lasting change for farmers, consumers, the environment and communities. In this year's report, Corteva details how to continue 100% sustainable innovation in the pipeline of new products, how to further advance the exploration of new technological directions (such as biologics, gene editing, renewable fuels, etc.), how to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions, In this way, we will continue to make progress towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals set by us in 2021, and make a greater and more meaningful contribution to meeting the urgent food security needs of consumers around the world.
