Stahl joins GO!PHA to advance natural PHA applications in coatings
Stahl joins the Global PHA Organization GO!PHA, a non-profit platform that advocates and advances the use of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), a naturally occurring polymer. It provides a low-impact bio-based alternative to traditional fossil plastic raw materials. Stahl is a supplier of specialty coatings and treatments for flexible substrates.
GO!PHA is a consortium of more than 60 stakeholders, including manufacturers, formulators, users, and universities and research institutions. These members are early adopters of PHA and work together to increase understanding of this relatively new PHA technology. Their goal is to advance the science behind these renewable, compostable and biodegradable materials.
As a member of the network, Stahl will have the opportunity to join forces with the wider PHA value chain. This will take PHA out of the testing phase and accelerate the potential application of this technology in the coatings market.
"We see tremendous potential in PHA and we look forward to working with like-minded stakeholders through the GO!PHA Alliance to bring this important technology to life. We are currently testing potential PHA-based applications across our entire product portfolio. By pioneering and embracing new sustainable technologies, we truly achieve our purpose: Touching lives, for a better world." said Paolo Bavaj, Chief Innovation and Development Officer at Stahl.
Anindya Mukherjee, Executive Board Member, GO!PHA said: "We warmly welcome Stahl as a new member of GO!PHA. Stahl’s expertise in specialty coatings and flexible substrate processing will undoubtedly enrich our alliance’s efforts to promote the use of PHAs and promote innovation and sustainability in the coatings industry. Together we look forward to driving the adoption of PHA and other renewable, compostable and biodegradable materials!"
