FMC:Two new herbicides (Bixlozone) are registered in Brazil
The herbicides Azugro® and Ezanya® from FMC, a leading global agricultural sciences company, have been registered in Brazil for use in cotton, tobacco and wheat.
Azugro® and Ezanya® herbicides feature the Isoflex® active ingredient, which is the brand name of FMC’s Bixlozone. The new herbicide, Isoflex® active, is classified as a Group 13 herbicide by the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee (HRAC). The registration of these two new agents will give growers new products to effectively address herbicide resistance in a variety of plantations.
Azugro® and Ezanya® herbicides are effective in controlling major annual grass weeds, including Eleusine indica, Lolium multiflorum, and some major broadleaf weeds. Azugro® will be used for cotton in 2024 and wheat in 2025, while Ezanya® will be used for tobacco in 2024. Research on the application of Isoflex® active products to other crops and market segments in Brazil is ongoing.
The approval in Brazil is another important regulatory approval for FMC's Isoflex® active product, which has already been approved in Argentina, Australia and China. Products containing the active ingredient have demonstrated selective pre-planting, pre-budding and post-budding efficacy in major crops worldwide, including canola, cereals, rapeseed and pulses.
