BASF’s acrylic acid, alcohols, glycol ethers and acetate production sites receive ISCC+ certification

ECHEMI 2024-07-23

BASF has achieved ISCC+ certification at all major production sites for acrylic acid, alcohols, glycol ethers and acetates worldwide, taking an important step towards supporting customers in achieving their goals and ambitions. With this move, BASF is now able to produce more than 60 products with one or more sustainability attributes associated with this portfolio.

In addition to the well-known “classic” products of high quality and reliability, most of the portfolio offers one or more of the following sustainability attributes: “Low Carbon Footprint” and “Zero Carbon Footprint” lead the way in reducing the carbon footprint of products, helping customers achieve their greenhouse gas reduction targets.

“Biologically Based” products are partly made from biomass and can be traced using the 14C method. Ccycled® products are made from raw materials chemically recycled from plastic waste or scrap tires, helping to promote a circular economy, and “Made with Green Energy” products demonstrate BASF’s commitment to renewable energy and further reduce the environmental impact of the production process.

Martin Liedemit, Senior Vice President, Global Strategic Business Development, Petrochemicals, BASF, stressed: “Based on BASF’s strong global and diversified asset portfolio, we are able to offer products with different sustainability attributes. Over the past few years, we have implemented a number of measures that enable us to offer solutions that support our customers around the world in achieving their sustainability goals and ambitions.”
