Honeywell and SGP BioEnergy Collaborate to Convert Industrial Hemp into Biochemicals

Honeywell and SGP BioEnergy announced that they are collaborating to develop new scalable technologies to convert industrial hemp and other plant materials into biochemicals.

These biochemicals can be used to produce plastics and other everyday products, providing alternatives to chemicals produced from fossil fuels.

As part of this collaboration, Honeywell will develop new technologies to enable plant materials to be used as feedstocks for biochemical production at scale. SGP BioEnergy will provide infrastructure, workforce and second-generation feedstocks, including hemp, to the initiative through its “READY.GROW.” program.

To ensure safe and efficient unit operations, Honeywell will provide ongoing operational support and workforce training to the SGP BioEnergy team. The collaboration with SGP BioEnergy supports Honeywell’s efforts to align its portfolio with three major trends, including the energy transition.
