Lubrizol Launches Novemer CS Polymer, an Emulsion Stabilizer and Sensory Enhancer
Lubrizol has developed a new polymeric emulsifier and emulsion stabilizer that offers versatility and ease of use in a variety of applications. Novemer CS polymer, an Acrylates/Steareth-20 Methacrylate Copolymer, is designed to “provide superior performance in formulating clear, low- to high-viscosity gels and emulsions.”
According to Lubrizol, its unique chemistry provides good compatibility with mineral UV filters and cosmetic pigments while delivering a watery, fresh sensory experience with a smooth application.
The new emulsifier is suitable for a variety of personal care applications, including skin care, sun protection and makeup.
“In skin care formulations, Novemer CS polymer allows formulators to create a wide range of textures and delivers excellent performance even in emulsifier-free systems. When combined with natural and synthetic rheology modifiers, it enables the creation of structured gel-creams with a wide range of viscosities that can be tailored to specific formulation requirements,” Lubrizol said.
Lubrizol also says Novemer CS polymer excels in sunscreen formulations, offering compatibility with organic and mineral UV filters and a light, watery feel. In cosmetic formulations, Novemer CS polymer’s compatibility with pigments enables the formulation of liquid cosmetics and improves their stability when combined with copolymers and emulsifiers. It can also provide additional benefits to consumers, such as improved perspiration resistance when used alone or improved hiding power and transfer resistance when combined with other Lubrizol synthetic polymers.
“Novemer CS polymer gives formulators precise control over the look and performance of the end product, allowing them to unleash their creativity and develop superior products that meet the evolving needs of consumers.”
