Sekisui Chemical files patent infringement lawsuit against Kuraray over PVB interlayer products

Sekisui Chemical High Performance Plastics has filed a lawsuit against Kuraray Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of Kuraray Co., Ltd., for infringement of its European patents at the 1st District Court of Munich, Germany.

 

The lawsuit is based on EPO No. 237 and EPO No. 247 (relating to the sound control properties of PVB interlayers) and EPO No. 888 (relating to the shrinkage properties of PVB interlayers), both owned by Sekisui Chemical, and was filed at the 1st District Court of Munich, seeking an injunction against Kuraray Europe to manufacture and sell the "‘Trosifol’ The Wedge Acoustic" and "‘Trosifol’ The Wedge Acoustic Shadeband" products in Germany, and a declaration of liability for damages.

 

Sekisui Chemical also filed a lawsuit with the Mannheim District Court, requesting an injunction against the production and sale of "‘Trosifol’ The Wedge Acoustic" and "‘Trosifol’ The Wedge Acoustic Shadeband" manufactured and sold by Kuraray Europe in Germany, and a declaratory judgment on liability for damages, based on EPO Judgment No. 222, regarding the gloss of the PVB interlayer, and a declaratory judgment on liability for damages.

 

Sekisui Chemical also filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Kuraray Korea Co., Ltd. at the Seoul Central District Court on September 30. Requesting an injunction against the production and sale of the sound insulation wedge product "Trosifol" produced and sold by Kuraray Korea in Korea and compensation for losses.
