Hovione expands its spray drying capacity in the US and Ireland
Hovione, headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal, has completed a major expansion in Europe and the US. The investments in the facilities in East Windsor, New Jersey and Ringaskiddy, Cork, significantly increase the CDMO's (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) global capacity for spray drying for pharmaceutical applications and enhance the plant's capabilities.
Hovione said the investment in New Jersey is the first step in a multi-year plant expansion plan to increase spray drying and tableting capabilities. At the same time, the Cork plant's spray drying capacity has also been nearly tripled.
"These expansion projects, which feature our latest technology, reflect Hovione's strong commitment to innovation and manufacturing service excellence," said Jean-Luc Herbeaux, CEO of Hovione. "Strengthening our facilities and teams in the US and Ireland allows us to better serve our customers and provide flexible supply options for both small and large projects. By increasing capacity and enhancing technical capabilities, we are better able to help our customers bring new and more complex drugs to market."
Hovione said the investment in the two facilities is part of the company's long-term strategy to remain at the forefront of pharmaceutical technology.
