Sika Opens New Factories in China and Singapore
Sika has opened two state-of-the-art factories in Xi’an, China and Singapore. The new Singapore factory specializes in mortar production, while the Xi’an factory produces the full range of Sika products, including tile adhesives, cement waterproofing materials and flooring solutions. With these two factories, Sika will be able to better respond to the needs of the local market while significantly reducing logistics distances.
The new Xi’an factory is Sika’s second large-scale factory opened in China in recent times, expanding Sika’s presence in Northwest China. Another factory opened earlier this year specifically serves Northeast China. With this factory, Sika now has 35 manufacturing plants in China.
The highly automated factory in Singapore will meet the needs of local customers in the metropolitan area, which, despite extensive urban planning that has created many green areas and recreational spaces, is still the third most densely populated country in the world. This has created a strong performance-driven demand for innovative and sustainable building solutions.
Philippe Jost, Regional Manager for Asia Pacific, said: “Expanding our presence in China and Singapore is an important step in our overall growth strategy in Asia. The new plants will significantly enhance our ability to provide innovative solutions to our customers in these two key markets. In addition, both plants will contribute to Sika’s sustainable development by adopting energy-saving processes and environmentally friendly materials in their operations.”
