China Takes Temporary Anti-Dumping Measures on Imported Polyformaldehyde Copolymers Originating from the United States, the European Union, Japan and Taiwan

ECHEMI 2025-01-17

The Ministry of Commerce of China issued a statement on January 16, saying that China has decided to take temporary anti-dumping measures on imported polyformaldehyde copolymers originating from the United States, the European Union, Japan and Taiwan from January 24.

In response to the application of China's polyformaldehyde copolymer industry, the Ministry of Commerce issued an announcement on May 19, 2024 to conduct an anti-dumping investigation on imported polyformaldehyde copolymers originating from the United States, the European Union, Japan and Taiwan.

According to the results of the anti-dumping investigation, the preliminary ruling determined that imported polyformaldehyde copolymers originating from the above-mentioned regions were dumped and caused substantial damage to related domestic industries.

According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce, the importers involved in the case must pay a deposit to the Chinese Customs when importing the investigated products, and the deposit tax rate is 3.8% to 74.9%.

Polyformaldehyde copolymer is mainly used in automotive parts, electronic appliances, industrial machinery, sports equipment, medical equipment and other fields, and partially replaces metal materials such as copper, zinc, tin and lead.
