BASF India to Shut Down Turbine Tube Dryer Unit at Dahej
The Board of Directors of BASF India Ltd has approved the closure of the Turbine Tube Dryer (TTD) unit at Dahej manufacturing site, which is associated with the company’s Care Chemicals business.
The decision to shut down the TTD unit was taken as its technology does not reflect the current standards of the Indian market, resulting in low utilisation, high maintenance costs, increased production of off-spec material, frequent scrappages and poor performance.
The Turbine Tube Dryer unit is expected to be shut down by the first half of 2025, which will result in direct fixed cost savings with minimal estimated loss of unit earnings.
The Turbine Tube Dryer unit, part of the Care Chemicals business under the Nutrition & Care segment, contributed Rs 377 million in revenues during FY 2023-24, or 0.3% of the company’s total revenues.
