Nouryon Becomes First Nordic Supplier to Launch Low-Carbon Hydrogen Peroxide

Nouryon, a global leader in specialty chemicals, announces the launch of its new low-carbon hydrogen peroxide product, Eka HP Puroxide.

As the first company in the Nordics to offer this solution, Nouryon provides customers in the pulp and paper, mining and water treatment end markets with a solution that significantly reduces scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.

In Nouryon’s sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide production facilities, the process flows are closely linked to produce a hydrogen peroxide product with a low carbon footprint. This synergy enables Nouryon to offer a regional hydrogen peroxide product that reduces the carbon footprint by up to 90% compared to the natural gas steam reforming process.

Eka HP Peroxide is produced with fossil-free hydrogen, sourced from Nouryon's chlorate production, and uses oxygen from the air, resulting in an extremely low carbon footprint. Unlike traditional methods that use natural gas, Eka HP Puroxide relies entirely on fossil-free hydrogen and is produced entirely with renewable electricity in Sweden.
