BASF Coatings and Li Auto Cooperate to Develop Low-Carbon Automotive Coatings
BASF Coatings and Li Auto announced the signing of a strategic cooperation memorandum, with the main goal of promoting and implementing coatings driven by sustainable development and digital innovation.
Under the guidance of the memorandum, BASF Coatings and Li Auto will jointly explore new low-carbon emission material technologies, establish a joint innovation platform, develop new materials and processes, improve product performance, and provide competitive coating solutions including electrophoretic paint, midcoat and clearcoat.
Digitalization is another focus of the cooperation between the two parties. Through continuous and in-depth cooperation in digital solutions, BASF Coatings and Li Auto aim to promote data sharing and system openness, and realize intelligent and automated interconnection of business operations.
Zou Jia, Vice President and Head of Global Business Management for Asia Pacific Automotive OEM Coatings at BASF, said: “We are pleased to deepen our cooperation with Ideal Auto, a pioneering market leader that shares our core values of innovation, sustainability and digitalization. Since 2016, BASF’s Coatings business has provided Ideal Auto with a comprehensive range of coating products to meet its technical requirements and consumer needs. In October 2024, Ideal Auto achieved the milestone of delivering 1 million vehicles in just 58 months, setting a new record for the fastest delivery of 1 million vehicles in the Chinese luxury car market.
