IBU-tec and Wanhuachem Forge Partnership for LFP Battery Material Development
On March 31, IBU-tec Advanced Materials officially formed a development partnership with Wanhua Chemical Group’s Battery Technology Co., Ltd. for the advancement of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery materials. High-level representatives from both companies signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA), aiming to collaborate on the production of LFP cathode materials in Europe. This marks Wanhua Chemical's first formal engagement in battery materials collaboration within the European market, setting the stage for further growth in this region.
Under this partnership, IBU-tec will adapt its calcination process based on the precursor specifications provided by Wanhua Chemical. The plan is to scale up this process to an industrial level over the next few months. By the third quarter of this year, both parties expect to achieve reliable results that will help assess whether the jointly developed products can meet the demands of the European and North American markets. If the products meet expectations, this could open significant opportunities for producing LFP cathode materials in Germany, integrating them into the value chain of the European battery industry.
