Mitsubishi Chemical Expands Flame-Retardant Compound Capacity in China and France

ECHEMI 2025-04-11

Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation has decided to expand the production capacity of flame-retardant compounds based on polyolefins and thermoplastic elastomers for cable jacketing and other uses at Mitsubishi Chemical High Performance Polymers (China) Co., Ltd. in Jiangsu, China, and MCPP France SAS in Tiffouge, France.

The decision is due to a significant increase in demand for flame-retardant compounds as cable jacketing materials in a wide range of industries, including mobile, telecommunications, construction and gas.

"Our flame-retardant compounds have a wide range of grades that support various flame retardant and heat resistance levels, and achieve high flexibility through our proprietary formulation technology and excellent moldability in extrusion molding. With these properties, they are widely used in applications such as automotive cables, solar power generation system cables and sputtering tubes, and their demand has been growing in recent years, especially in China and Europe."

To meet such strong global demand, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation has decided to expand its flame-retardant compound production capacity by installing new production lines at its plants in China and France.
