Eastman Launches Esmeri CC1N10 for Color Cosmetics
Eastman, a global specialty materials company, announces the launch of Eastman Esmeri CC1N10, a high-performance, readily biodegradable cellulose ester micropowder for color cosmetics. Made from sustainably managed forests and designed to meet stringent EU regulations for synthetic polymer microparticles, Esmeri is fully biodegradable and does not remain in the environment.
Esmeri CC1N10 offers a sustainable micropowder solution without compromising color cosmetic product performance. It delivers visually enhanced soft-focus optics, enhanced color development and color payoff, and even coverage with an excellent tactile experience for lipsticks, foundations, and pressed powders. Designed for compatibility and stability, Esmeri is highly compatible with lipophilic cosmetic formulations and is a sustainable alternative to traditional microparticles.
"Cosmetic brands must evolve to anticipate and meet upcoming regulatory requirements and societal demands for safe, sustainable products that people love and use daily, without compromising on efficacy," said Travis Smith, Eastman executive vice president. "We look forward to working with more formulators to help them meet these demands and differentiate themselves in a competitive marketplace." Esmeri CC1N10's unique properties enhance performance, allowing the powder to optimally diffuse light and fill in fine lines and wrinkles.
"We are proud to launch Esmeri, Eastman's newest solution that showcases our long history and expertise in cellulosic technology," said Chris Killian, Eastman senior vice president and chief technology and sustainability officer. "Esmeri embodies our broader commitment to combining growth and sustainability by advancing the circular economy and delivering high-performance materials that are better for people and the planet—and we have more to come in the personal care space."
