Chevron Phillips 1-hexene project started

Recently, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company announced that the company's new world-scale 1-hexene plant project in Old Ocean, Texas, USA has broken ground. The designed capacity of this device is 266,000 tons/year. After it is completed and put into operation, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company's 1-hexene production capacity in the United States will reach 650,000 tons/year.

It is reported that the project will use Chevron Phillips Chemical Company's proprietary 1-hexene technology, which can use ethylene to produce highly pure comonomer-grade 1-hexene. The project is expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2021 and be completed and put into operation in 2023. It is expected to involve 600 construction jobs during the peak period. Once put into operation, the project will support more than 50 full-time positions.

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company stated that the new 1-hexene plant project in Old Ocean will enjoy significant advantages in terms of infrastructure, raw material availability and operational expertise. It will also benefit from the latest technological advances to achieve energy and emission efficiency improvements. Once put into use, it will further consolidate the company's position as a leading 1-hexene supplier. Chevron Phillips Chemical Company already operates the world's largest 1-hexene plant and two full-line α-olefin plants at the Cedar Bayou plant in Bay City, Texas.
