Manali Petrochemicals commissions expanded Propylene Glycol plant

ECHEMI 2025-07-21

Manali Petrochemicals Limited (MPL), a leading petrochemicals manufacturing company and part of AM International, Singapore, has marked a major milestone with the expansion of its Propylene Glycol (PG) plant. The new state-of-the-art facility will be operational after obtaining the Clearance to Operate (CTO) from the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board.

The expansion will increase MPL’s PG capacity by an additional 50,000 tonnes per annum (MTPA) from its existing 22,000 tonnes per annum (MTPA) capacity. This strategic move underscores MPL’s strong commitment to the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ vision to bring advanced manufacturing capabilities to the domestic market.

Ashwin Muthiah, Chairman of MPL and Founding Chairman of AM International, Singapore, said, “I would like to congratulate the MPL team on the official opening of its expanded Propylene Glycol plant today. This state-of-the-art plant reflects our commitment to sustainable expansion, meeting evolving customer expectations and strengthening our market leadership.”

This also reflects our focus on local manufacturing and alignment with the government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative – a step towards reducing import dependency and boosting domestic economic recovery. ”

MPL is committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology and leveraging the expertise of local talent to significantly reduce India’s dependency on imported Propylene Glycol to meet the growing demand of domestic and industrial consumers. This expansion will further strengthen India’s competitiveness as a global manufacturing hub.
