Tatarstan’s Agri Exports to China Surge to 13.5% in 2025 First Half Value Hits $1.05 Billion
Tatarstan dramatically increased its share of agricultural exports to China, reaching 13.5% in the first half of 2025—up from just 7% in the same period last year, according to Russian media. Between January and June 2025, shipments included 9,500 tons of vegetable oil, 2,700 tons of oats, and 195 tons of flour.
Product categories have expanded: while only barley and flour were exported to China in the first half of 2024, 2025 saw the addition of oilseeds, legumes, and processed grains. Officials predict further growth in beet pulp and oil products exports to China in the second half of the year.
About 15 Tatarstan agricultural enterprises are now seeking approval to export to China, which is considered a mark of high product quality due to China’s rigorous import standards.
In 2024, bilateral trade exceeded $3 billion, with Tatarstan’s exports to China jumping 75% to $1.05 billion. Key exports included rubber, petroleum products, plastics, and agricultural goods.
This surge signals a new era for Tatarstan’s agri-trade, as China’s demand and strict requirements drive both growth and higher standards.
