Gurit Invests in 1000 Square Meter R&D Center in Tianjin to Accelerate Global Advanced Composite Breakthroughs
Swiss composites leader Gurit is launching its only global R&D center in Tianjin’s Yixian Intelligent Innovation Park, signaling a major vote of confidence in China’s industrial future. The new hub will cover 1,000 square meters and is expected to be operational by the end of 2025, focusing on performance research and testing of PET materials, with a pilot production line for process innovation.
As Gurit’s exclusive global research facility, the center will become a critical platform for developing next-generation high-performance composites for fast-growing sectors like wind energy and new energy vehicles. Leveraging localized rapid R&D and validation, Gurit aims to accelerate the journey from concept to mass production, delivering greener, higher-performing product lines to meet urgent market needs.
The center also lays the groundwork for Gurit’s ambitions in eco-friendly materials and the circular economy, with plans to achieve key system certifications by 2026. Gurit’s executives emphasized Tianjin’s robust industrial base and business-friendly environment as central to their Asia-Pacific strategy. The new R&D hub will dramatically boost Gurit’s innovation capacity and responsiveness, ensuring a robust technical foundation for future product lines and customizable solutions.
By establishing this global center in TEDA, Gurit is deepening its local innovation, supporting a full-chain presence from R&D to manufacturing, and injecting fresh momentum into the region’s advanced manufacturing sector. The initiative will also enhance synergy across the value chain, strengthening regional industrial competitiveness.
