DIC Opens Sustainable Food Contact Coatings Production Facility in Indonesia
DIC Corporation announced that it will establish a new facility for the production of coatings suitable for direct food contact materials within the facility of its wholly-owned subsidiary, PT. DIC Graphics, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
This milestone marks the world's first facility operated by an ink manufacturer to be designed according to the guiding principles of the globally recognized Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) food safety management system.
The facility has applied for HACCP certification, bringing its food safety management standards on par with leading food manufacturers. The facility aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 1,000 tons by fiscal 2030, serving growing markets in Asia and Oceania, including China, thereby strengthening DIC's role in promoting sustainable packaging solutions globally.
The new facility is equipped with advanced features such as air showers, HEPA dust collectors, and antimicrobial flooring. It is also halal-certified in accordance with Indonesian regulations and complies with the World Health Organization's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for food and drug safety.
The plant, the first in Asia outside of Japan dedicated to the production of coatings for direct food contact materials, strengthens DIC's competitiveness in the sustainable packaging market and contributes to the company's "DIC Vision 2030" long-term management plan, which prioritizes circular economy initiatives.
By localizing technologies developed in the United States, Europe, and Japan in Indonesia, the new plant will enable DIC to provide high-performance coatings tailored to the local and regional markets, contributing to the development of the sustainable packaging industry in Asia and Oceania.
The plant will produce coatings for both interior food contact and exterior non-food contact applications.
