This week, the market price of maleic anhydride in China continues to rise

ECHEMI 2025-11-28

November 27th, according to news from China

According to the commodity analysis system, the anhydride market in China continued to rise this week. As of November 27, the average market price of maleic anhydride produced by the n-butane oxidation method remained at 5,262.50 CNY/ton, an increase of 1.94% from 5,162.50 CNY/ton on November 23.

Supply: This week, the maleic anhydride market continued to rise. The auction prices from Wanhua continued to increase, supporting the maleic anhydride market. The main factories' prices for maleic anhydride also continued to follow the upward trend. Additionally, there are plans for a plant shutdown in Jiangsu, which boosted the Chinese maleic anhydride market, leading to a continuous rise in maleic anhydride prices. The downstream unsaturated resins sector has limited procurement of maleic anhydride, with a general inventory restocking atmosphere. As of November 27, the solid maleic anhydride factory price in Shandong region was around 5000 CNY/ton, and the liquid maleic anhydride factory price was around 4850 CNY/ton.

On the downstream side: Currently, the market for unsaturated resins is mainly characterized by weak and consolidating trends. While raw material prices—such as styrene and maleic anhydride—have risen, other raw materials remain weak, providing only moderate cost support. Downstream purchasing remains driven by rigid demand, offering limited support to the unsaturated resin market.

The maleic anhydride product analyst believes that currently, the main downstream demand for maleic anhydride is from unsaturated resins and rigid procurement. With liquid maleic anhydride products in Central and South China being sold externally, the supply of maleic anhydride may increase, and it is expected that the recent maleic anhydride market in China will mainly be in a phase of consolidation.
