This Week's TDI Market Rises to a High Level (3.23-3.27) in China

ECHEMI 2026-03-28

March 27th, news:

According to the commodity market analysis system, this week the TDI market in East China has risen to a high level. As of March 27, the average market price in East China was 18,933 CNY/ton, while on March 23, the average price was 18,266 CNY/ton, with a weekly price increase of 3.65%, and a year-on-year increase of 55.19%.

This week, the TDI market in China maintained an upward trend. As of this Friday, the offer price for domestically produced TDI in East China was between 18,500 and 19,000 CNY per ton; the offer price for Shanghai goods was around 18,800 to 19,500 CNY per ton. During the week, TDI prices remained firm and increased. Due to the continuous rise in raw material, transportation, and energy costs, BASF raised the prices of MDI and TDI products in the East Asia region (excluding mainland China) by $500 per ton. The main manufacturers in China continued to experience tight supply, with news of suspension of sales and sealed inventory supporting market confidence. Intermediaries actively pushed for price increases, but downstream buyers showed a clear resistance to high-priced goods, leading to mainly rigid demand transactions with average trading volumes.

Supply side: Chinese facilities are operating at medium to high load, with tight supply.

Cost perspective: The toluene market is affected by crude oil price fluctuations, with downstream users replenishing stocks on a need basis and buyer interest remaining weak.

In terms of future market analysis, TDI data analysts believe that the current TDI market is characterized by strong supply and weak demand. Influenced by the international situation, prices are rising cautiously. It is expected that the market will remain at high levels in the short term, so close attention should be paid to macroeconomic factors and changes in market supply and demand.
