On June 22, Wanhua Chemical announced that the 800,000 t/y MDI plant and related auxiliary facilities at its Fujian Industrial Park would begin scheduled maintenance on June 23, with the shutdown expected to last approximately 20 days.
According to the announcement, the maintenance is a routine annual overhaul and will not have a significant impact on the company's production and operations.
The maintenance is expected to temporarily reduce domestic MDI supply in the near term, providing some price support for the spot market. On June 23, the quoted price for Wanhua-brand polymeric MDI in the Shandong region stood at RMB 15,800/ton, up RMB 100/ton from the previous trading day.
It is worth noting that Wanhua Chemical is accelerating its technical upgrade and capacity expansion project at the Fujian site, which is expected to add 700,000 t/y of new MDI capacity and is scheduled to be officially commissioned in the second quarter of 2026. Upon completion, Wanhua Chemical's total MDI capacity will reach 4.5 million t/y, further consolidating its position as the world's largest MDI producer.
