August 31 news
I. Price Trends
According to the commodity market analysis system, the Aniline market in China experienced a stepwise increase in August. The price of Aniline was 11,525 CNY per ton on August 1st and reached 13,425 CNY per ton by August 31st, representing a 16.19% increase over the period and a 77.81% increase compared to the same period last year.
II. Analysis and Commentary
At the beginning of the month, the aniline market saw a stable supply-demand balance. Downstream buyers, driven by immediate demand, entered the market, and inventory pressure remained relatively mild. As a result, aniline prices experienced a slight upward trend, remaining at the month’s low point. In the middle of the month, several aniline units underwent maintenance and faced fluctuations in start-up rates, leading to a continued tightening of supply. Factories raised their quoted prices twice, further exacerbating supply tightness and driving inventories down to low levels. Traders began selling at higher premiums. Additionally, growing demand from overseas markets further tightened aniline supply, prompting aniline producers to increase prices significantly—by 800 yuan and 500 yuan respectively. By the end of the month, mainstream aniline prices had risen to between 13,400 and 13,500 CNY per ton.
Pure benzene: In August, the pure benzene market in China first declined and then rose. Affected by geopolitical situations, prices deviated from the fundamentals, with significant influence from market sentiment. Looking ahead, the fundamentals of pure benzene in China will maintain a near-strong, far-weak pattern. However, in the short term, the low inventory levels and geopolitical support will keep the prices firm. The rebound potential is limited due to the expected return of supply. Subsequent attention should be paid to the downstream acceptance of high prices and any changes in the geopolitical situation.
3. Future Market Expectations
Currently, the Aniline maintenance facilities have not yet resumed operations, and Aniline supply remains tight. Supported by demand, it is expected that the Aniline market in China will continue to rise in the short term.
