The Effect of YNCC Event in Korea on Pure Benzene
The accident occurred at the YNCC plant in Yeosu, South Korea, around 9 a.m. Monday. The plant has three ethylene cracking units that produce pure benzene as a by-product.
YNCC has three ethylene cracker units in Yeosu, Korea, with an annual ethylene processing capacity of 2.285 million tons per year. The plant has a production capacity of 457,000 tons of pure benzene in Lishui, which is distributed in three units, the first unit supporting 351,000 tons of downstream styrene.
The accident involved unit no. 3, which has a designed capacity of 110,000 tons of pure benzene and no supporting styrene unit. Therefore, the accident directly affects the production capacity of pure benzene is limited, and does not temporarily affect the production of styrene.
However, due to the loss of local personnel involved in this accident, the long-term shutdown of the device affected by the similar accident in South Korea may be used for reference, which may have an impact on the production of other pure benzene and styrene devices in the plant in the future.
Therefore, although the actual impact of the current field is weak, the uncertainty of the follow-up device still exists, but we still need to pay attention to the relevant products as an opportunity to carry out price speculation.
