Qilu Petrochemical's first truckload of fuel cell hydrogen officially leaves factory
At 10:58 on March 28, a special long-tube tanker carrying 179 kg of hydrogen for fuel cells slowly left the Qilu Petrochemical plant, marking the official departure of Qilu Petrochemical's fuel cell hydrogen from the factory, providing high-quality clean fuel for hydrogen energy vehicles and achieving the historic leap from self-use to external supply of hydrogen, helping Zibo City to build a national benchmark city for hydrogen energy production and application, and helping Sinopec to build "China's No.1 Hydrogen Energy Company".
Qilu Petrochemical Chlor-alkali Plant is the only enterprise producing chlor-alkali in Sinopec. Hydrogen is a by-product of electrolysis of brine to produce chlorine and caustic soda, with low cost, good quality, 99.99% purity and fully compliant with the national standard of hydrogen for automotive fuel cells, and the change of hydrogen from self-use to external supply will not increase other costs and has obvious price advantages compared with other sister enterprises. 22 October 2021 Zibo City, where Qilu Petrochemical is located, issued a medium and long-term development plan for the hydrogen industry for consultation, identifying Linzi District as a large-scale hydrogen production industry base, which in turn provides a basis for the development of Qilu Petrochemical's hydrogen industry.

The project was handed over on 29 November 2021, and on 30 December, a hydrogen commissioning conference was held and the hydrogen filling entered the trial production stage. Qilu Petrochemical, while carefully debugging and strengthening inspection to ensure the hydrogen charging equipment passed the winter smoothly, strengthened the communication and cooperation with Zibo China Hydrogen Gas Co.
On February 4, 2022, the hydrogen produced by Yanshan Petrochemical, a subsidiary of Sinopec, lit the main torch of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. The news reached Qilu Petrochemical, and the employees of Qilu Petrochemical Chlor-alkali Plant, who were preparing for the official delivery of hydrogen, were encouraged to speed up the progress of all kinds of documents and proceduresso as to realize the delivery of hydrogen as soon as possible to create efficiency.
On February 22nd, Qilu Petrochemical's hydrogen mobile pressure vessel filling permit procedures were completed, and the hydrogen was officially filled and shipped.
Li Shaolong, Deputy Manager of Zibo High Pay Area of Sinopec Sales Company Limited Shandong Petroleum Branch, introduced that on November 18, 2021, Sinopec's first highway hydrogen filling station was put into operation in Zibo Service Area of Jiqing Expressway, which filled the gap of highway hydrogen refilling network. Now the use of hydrogen for highway vehicles is small.
In the next step, with the development of hydrogen vehicles, we will actively dock with Qilu Petrochemical and sell hydrogen from Qilu Petrochemical in a planned way according to the hydrogen consumption.
On March 27, Shandong Huaben Energy Co., Ltd. commissioned Shandong Baohydrogen Energy Co., Ltd. which has the qualification of transporting hydrogen to fill hydrogen at Qilu Petrochemical.
"The pressure of hydrogen is high, the safety of filling is most important, the operation cannot be the slightest bit sloppy, it takes more than 2 hours to fill 200 kg of hydrogen."
Huang Dexin, technician of caustic soda workshop of chlor-alkali plant, introduced that in order to achieve safe filling, special special tanker truck arrived at the plant and parked at the filling space, fixed the body, the front end drove away, then eliminated the tank static electricity, strict filling operation, the pressure was filled to 17.5 MPa to stop the filling, after the filling was finished, good safety measures were taken, the front end then pulled the tanker away.
