Livestock products and feed market price situation

According to the monitoring of 500 county marketplaces and collection points nationwide, in the fourth week of March (collection date 23 March) the prices of eggs, commercial egg chicks and feed rose, while the prices of pig products, commercial meat chicks, beef and lamb and raw milk fell and chicken prices were basically flat.

  

Pig product prices. The national average price of piglets was RMB 23.86/kg, down 1.2% from the previous week and down 74.4% year-on-year. Piglet prices rose in seven provinces, including Shaanxi, Zhejiang, Hainan, Henan and Hubei, fell in 21 provinces, including Qinghai, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia and Sichuan, and remained flat in Shandong. The average price of piglets in Central China was higher at RMB 25.61/kg; Southwest China was lower at RMB 21.65/kg.

 

 

The national average price of live pigs was RMB 12.52/kg, down 0.8% from the previous week and 54.4% year-on-year. Pig prices rose in 8 provinces, including Guangxi, Hainan, Shandong, Guangdong and Henan, and fell in 22 provinces, including Ningxia, Fujian, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu and Sichuan.

 

The average price of live pigs in South China was higher at RMB15.36/kg; lower in Northwest China at RMB11.49/kg. The national average pork price was RMB 22.38/kg, down 1.2% from the previous week and down 49.2% year-on-year. Pork prices rose in five provinces, including Shanghai, Henan, Jilin, Shandong and Beijing, and fell in 25 provinces, including Ningxia, Chongqing, Fujian, Shaanxi and Heilongjiang. The average price of pork was higher in southern China at RMB 27.89/kg and lower in northeast China at RMB 18.70/kg.

  

Poultry product prices. The national average price of eggs was RMB10.49/kg, up 1.2% from the previous week and up 9.3% year-on-year. The average price of eggs in 10 major producing provinces, including Hebei and Liaoning, was RMB9.60/kg, up 2.6% from the previous week and 19.1% year-on-year.

 

The national average price of chicken was RMB 22.55/kg, basically unchanged from the previous week and unchanged year-on-year. The average price of commercial egg chicks was RMB3.64 per chick, up 0.3% from the previous week and down 2.7% year-on-year. The average price of commercial meat chicks was RMB2.86 per chick, down 1.0% from the previous week and down 26.1% year-on-year.

  Beef and lamb prices. The national average price of beef was RMB87.03/kg, down 0.1% from the previous week and down 0.2% year-on-year. The average price of beef in the main producing provinces of Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, Shandong and Henan was RMB 79.38/kg, up 0.1% from the previous week.

 

The national average price of lamb was RMB 83.28/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week and down 2.8% year-on-year. The average price of mutton in the main producing provinces of Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Henan and Xinjiang was RMB 78.20/kg, unchanged from the previous week.
