World's largest cotton spinner successfully develops bio-based PLA, PHBV range of fabrics!
Recently, the bio-based PLA and PHBV fabrics developed by Weiqiao Textile have passed the anti-bacterial performance test.
This series of products is the result of the "Bio-based PLA, PHBV material development and application" project, which Weiqiao has developed in collaboration with upstream and downstream enterprises.
The project is aimed at PLA, PHBV material elastic elongation, low glass transition temperature, dyeing and processing difficulties and other technical bottlenecks, through technological innovation and design creativity, to ensure the performance of the fabric at the same time, taking into account the functionality of the material, to achieve high-quality bio-based PLA, PHBV antibacterial functional fabric development.

Bio-based PLA, PHBV and cotton blended fabrics
This series of products are fully analysed in the development process of fibre characteristics, in the physical and mechanical properties of the finished product, style indicators for quantitative analysis, while optimising the proportion of fibres in the finished product, to ensure that the anti-bacterial function of the material to achieve the best effect.
Currently, Weiqiao has developed a number of bio-based PLA and PHBV blended fabrics that have passed the tripartite test, with anti-bacterial rates of 97%-99% for Staphylococcus aureus, 87%-97% for E. coli and 84%-96% for Candida albicans after 50 washes.
The fabric has a long-lasting anti-bacterial effect while remaining green, soft and comfortable, and can be widely used in knitted underwear, garments, home textiles and other fields.
Biobased PLA, PHBV and cellulose blended fabrics
Bio-based PLA, PHBV synthetic fibres are made from plant starch as the main raw material, using bio-fermentation technology and processed by a special polymerisation process. The fibres are green, anti-bacterial and comfortable, compatible with human body, microbially degradable and sustainable in circulation. The fibres can meet consumer demand for green, skin-friendly, comfortable and long-lasting anti-bacterial functional textiles.
