China's First 'Breakthrough' Plant for The Production of Hexamethylenediamine And Nylon 66 Was Completed
Sinochem International announced that the project with an annual output of 40,000 tons of nylon 66 and 25,000 tons of intermediate hexamethylene diamine, which was invested by the company, has fully completed the mid-term handover of the plant and is about to enter the commissioning stage. It is expected to achieve stable production in June this year.
The main raw materials of nylon 66 are adipic acid and hexamethylene diamine. Among them, adiponitrile, the key synthetic raw material of hexamethylenediamine, belongs to my country's "stuck neck" product. The domestic production capacity is slow to develop due to the "controlled by others" of production technology, and the price remains high, which has become a major bottleneck restricting the development of nylon 66 industry.
After years of research and development, Sinochem International has independently developed an innovative production process of hexamethylenediamine, and has formed the first domestic set of "catalyst preparation - hexamethylenediamine synthesis through the introduction of an aqueous solution salt-forming continuous polymerization process nylon 66 process technology. --The whole process technology of nylon 66 polymerization.
It is reported that this innovative production process uses bulk chemicals as raw materials and directly prepares hexamethylene diamine through a two-step reaction, cleverly bypassing the long-term monopoly of multinational companies on the technology and supply of adiponitrile, the key raw material of nylon 66. Compared with the traditional production process of hexamethylene diamine, it also has the advantages of easy availability of raw materials, less investment, no highly toxic chemicals such as hydrocyanic acid, safety and environmental protection, and high level.
The technology has been fully verified by small and pilot tests, and the key indicators such as the purity, chromaticity and polarographic value of the prepared hexamethylenediamine products are at the leading level in the industry, and the quality of nylon 66 products also meets the requirements of the industry's first-class products, and has industrialized implementation.
In September 2020, Sinochem International, relying on the innovative production process of hexamethylenediamine, combined with the advantages of steam, natural gas and other energy sources in the western region, invested in the construction of a project with an annual output of 40,000 tons of nylon 66 and 25,000 tons of intermediate ethylenediamine in Zhongwei, Ningxia. The project is located in Sinochem Zhongwei Circular Economy Industrial Park. Construction will start in April 2021, and it will be listed as a key project in Ningxia Autonomous Region in 2021.
