Covestro, HFH Provides Sustainable Homes to Poor in India

Covestro (India) Pvt Ltd in association with Habitat for Humanity (HFH) India and Industrial Foams (Pvt) Ltd has built three homes to three needy families in New Delhi, to promote sustainable and affordable living in the country under its ‘Umeed Ki Awaaz initiative’.

Covestro India, the principal sponsor of the initiative and the lead member of the India Insulation Forum, provided with advanced materials in collaboration with Industrial Foams build the three state-of-art technology, energy efficient homes. Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-governmental, and non-profit organisation.

The innovation employed a paper honey comb structure lending load bearing capacity to the structure compressed between polyurethane (PU) foam and two cement board facings. The facings are chemically stable and provide safety against fire, offer weather and termite resistance. The PU foam provides insulation, helps in reducing heat and makes the home thermally comfortable. Paper honeycomb makes the environment-friendly.
