Megaton ethylene project in Zhongsha Tianjin will expand to 1.3 million tons
Recently, Tianjin Petrochemical has received good news: as the leading project of building petrochemical industry base in Tianjin, Sinopec's Tianjin million tons ethylene project has been expanded for the first time in 10 years. At present, the project has started construction and is expected to be completed and put into operation in April 2021. By then, the capacity will reach 1.3 million tons per year, and the capacity of a single unit will also be in the forefront of similar projects in China.
1.3 million tons/year ethylene capacity expansion projects include new 200,000 tons/young oil cracking furnace, new refrigeration tank, cracking gas compressor, propylene compressor and binary refrigeration compressor transformation, replacement of tower internals such as ethylene and propylene distillation tower, addition of 3 2,000 cubic meters ethylene spherical tanks, 1,500 cubic meters ethylene cryogenic storage tank and cryogenic ethylene loading system, and new high-pressure fire pump. Station, new circulating water cooling tower and circulating water pump. It is understood that on the basis of fully utilizing the cracking raw materials provided by Tianjin Petrochemical and Refinery Department, this project can introduce overseas ethane resources relying on the ethane contract between Saudi Basic Industries Corporation and North America, and the ethane handling, storage and transportation facilities of Sinopec Natural Gas Branch in Nangang. The figures show that as the largest country in the world with the largest population and the second largest economy, China has a huge demand base for olefins. Tianjin's million tons ethylene project has been in operation for 10 years, continuously optimizing production and operation. The total production of ethylene has exceeded 10 million tons, which has made an important contribution to the national economic construction.
