DSM Releases Greater China Sustainability Report
On July 20, Royal DSM released the "2021 DSM Greater China Sustainability Report", which is the 15th year DSM has released this series of reports.
According to reports, in 2021, DSM will continue to deepen the growth model of "global products, local solutions, precision and personalization", and grasp China's "dual carbon" goals and sustainable development strategic opportunities.
DSM has always made this a top priority when it comes to employee safety, health and well-being. In 2021, DSM will further promote digital safety management in China and continue to accumulate excellent experience in safety management. At the same time, the company's occupational safety recordable injury accident rate in 2021 was 0.15, a year-on-year decrease of 0.03; the process safety accident rate was 0.14, and both safety indicators remained low. In order to strengthen safety awareness and improve safety management level, DSM invited international experts, trained local trainers, and provided multiple online and offline safety trainings.
In 2021, based on its strong performance in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, DSM increased its 2030 emissions reduction target, aiming to increase the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from operations from 30% to 50% of emissions in 2016, and The internal carbon price was raised to €100/t from €50/t in 2020. In practice, DSM China has formulated a series of emission reduction plans including saving heat, fuel, and electricity, increasing energy efficiency from 6.7% in 2020 to 10.1% in 2021, which is higher than the average annual increase of 1%.
In order to actively promote energy conservation, emission reduction and energy structure upgrade, DSM has set a sustainable development goal of 75% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030. In 2021, DSM China signed two green power trading agreements, achieving a renewable energy procurement rate of 15.6% in Chinese factories. At the same time, it will promote process improvement and waste reduction projects. In 2021, DSM China will achieve a waste recycling rate of 93.9%, exceeding the expected target of 80% to 90%.
