LG Chem Exports Bio-based Phenol and Acetone
Recently, LG Chem Co., Ltd. announced that the company has started exporting its first batch of biobalanced phenol and acetone. LG Chem said that the product uses renewable biological raw materials such as biomass or waste cooking oil, and has obtained the global sustainable eco-friendly material certification - International Sustainable Development and Carbon Certification PLUS (ISCC PLUS). LG Chem will export 4,000 tons of phenol and 1,200 tons of acetone, becoming the largest number of ISCC PLUS certified products ever exported by South Korea.
It is reported that these bio-based phenol and acetone from LG Chem's Dashan plant will be exported to a German company's factories in China and Thailand to manufacture polycarbonate using bio-balance chemicals.
Since LG Chem first started exporting biobalanced superabsorbent polymers last August, they have launched 41 ISCC PLUS certified products, including polyolefins, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymers, polyvinyl chloride, Neopentyl glycol, phenol, acetone, etc. LG Chem expects that the ISCC PLUS-certified eco-friendly products business will continue to expand in global markets, including Europe and the United States, amid growing customers looking to opt for biobalanced products.
