Unilever cut its sales forecast due to the recession in many markets
Unilever said it lowered its forecast because it faced challenges in multiple markets around the world. US warned on Tuesday that it expects a slight decline in the growth rate of basic sales in 2019 and that sales growth in 2020 will be in the second half of their expected guidance range. British and Dutch manufacturers of haolemen mayonnaise and dove soap said that the growth of basic sales (excluding special expenses) in 2019 will be lower than the lower range of 3% to 5% in the multi-year growth rate range. "Due to challenges in some markets, we expect underlying sales growth to be slightly lower than expected throughout the year," said Alan jope, chief executive of NBC, however, noting that profit, margin and cash are not expected to be affected. The company attributed the decline to challenges in some markets this quarter, including the slowdown in South Asia and continued challenges in transactions in developed markets. Unilever warned that a full recovery would take time. Looking forward to 2020, the company said growth will accelerate in the second half of the year, with growth of less than 3% in the first half. For the whole year, the growth of basic sales is expected to be in the second half of the multi-year range.
